Odd Bodkins Introduction
Letter.
Origin: Originally printed in 1963 from strips
published between 1961 and 1963 in the Nevada County Nugget.
History: Seeking bigger fish, (and income), Dan sold his coin
collection and printed 500 "Introduction Posters". He mailed
out 100 and waited eagerly for a reply. No one replied. He mailed out
another 100. Again, no one replied. He mailed out another 100 and another.
Finally, he used the last of his coin money and mailed out 50 thinking,
"Surely I can't be the only one who thinks these are funny!
No one EVER replied and he now he was out of cash... So he did
the only thing he could.
He
went to the source...
He approached the Editorial Comics Editor of a small paper in Santa
Cruz CA and asked:
" Hey Mister, why won't you carry my strip?"
The editor bleekly replied:
"Well the strip is great kid, but I can get it cheaper from a syndicate."...
The rest is history...
Nitty
Gritty:
Most
of the remaining prints were destroyed over the course of 43 years.
The fact that these remaining few have survived is a testament to Dan's
extremely successful PackRat
superpowers.
Lulu
retrieved them from the Original 16-1 Mine basement.
Lulu is not afraid of the dark.
